Department of Urban Studies and Planning and the Office of International Programs have partnered and hosted 20 selected Korean students from the University of Seoul this winter (Jan. 5-21, 2009). Faculty from Urban Studies and Planning, Geography, and Public Administration delivered lectures and field trips on urban studies and planning topics.

In Fall of 2008, the Urban Studies Program was instituted by San Francisco State University as a Department in the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences. Also as of Fall 2008, "Planning" was added to the title. The academic unit is now officially "Department of Urban Studies and Planning."
